The Durham Rescue Mission is in full planning mode to prepare for the possibility of a direct hit by Hurricane Florence later this week, and we’re asking the public to help us prepare.
The needs that the Durham Rescue Mission will have are:
- LP gas tanks — in the event that power goes out, the Rescue Mission will be dependent upon our large gas grills and gas cooking pots
- Dry ice — the Rescue Mission has four walk in freezers that it will need to keep cold and preserve food
- Generators
- Gas jugs
- Bottled water
- Flashlights
- Batteries
- Canned food or any meats such as bacon or sausage that can be cooked over an open flame
- Financial assistance
If there is someone who would like to help, but does not have any of these items, the Rescue Mission is accepting donations to help prepare for the approaching storm. A gift of $5 can help us purchase food, water, gas, or other needed items.
