Since 1999, the Durham Rescue Mission has held an annual community outreach event, to provide new backpacks filled with new school supplies for at-risk children. The Durham Rescue Mission wants to give children the opportunity to be prepared for a great school year.
On August 19th, students with their parents or guardian can come to 1201 E Main Street and enjoy a day filled with free hot dogs, carnival games, clothing, groceries, and a new backpack filled with school supplies! Our staff, residents, and volunteers hope our Back to School Party helps encourage children to stay in school!

We want to be a blessing to school aged children. Please help spread the word about our “Back to School Party and Backpack Give-away” at the Durham Rescue Mission on Wednesday, August 19th at 9:00am, where they can receive a free backpack filled with school supplies.

You can help provide for at-risk children by donating new backpacks, new school supplies, or by making a financial donation to help provide these items and much more! Donations of supplies may be dropped off at 1201 East Main Street in Durham … or you can order school supplies online and have they shipped to the Durham Rescue Mission at 1201 East Main St., Durham, NC 27701.
