2015 Spring Culinary Arts Graduation

On June 11th in the Clegg’s Dining Hall at the Durham Rescue Mission Center for Hope, 15 men and women received certificates of completion from the Durham Tech Culinary Arts Class.  We’d like to congratulate them on finishing this 18-week course while also earning ServSafe and other culinary certifications! Three of the culinary students, Jenny, Jesse, and Floyd, are currently in our Victory Program at the Durham Rescue Mission. The Victory Program is the Durham Rescue Mission’s 12-month holistic program designed to help people overcome a lifestyle of addictions and return to the workforce investing back into the community.

The Durham Rescue Mission has partnered with Durham Tech by hosting the classes and graduation ceremony in our Center for Hope Sandra Peterson Kitchen and Clegg’s Dining Hall.  We are happy to help Durham Tech provide this opportunity, giving people a chance to better their lives through a vocational skill such as culinary services.

Chef Betty Redwood, the course instructor from Durham Tech, as well as Durham Rescue Mission Staff, friends and family enjoyed an evening of hors d’oeuvres and wraps prepared by the class graduates to show the “fruits of their labor”.
