Durham Rescue Mission Collecting Items to Deliver on October 4th

The Durham Rescue Mission is collecting items to take to Eastern NC to help with those affected by Hurricane Florence. Severe flooding has caused millions in damage to property all over Eastern NC, and they need our help. In fact, two schools have been damaged in Jones County and several thousand students are in need.

Our plan is to take backpacks, supplied by our friends at GSK, and fill them will school supplies collected by the community. Here is the list of items we need to deliver to the Jones County community:

  • School supplies to fill 1,600 backpacks (loose-leaf paper, composition books, 3-ring binders, highlighters, pens, pencils, sharpeners, crayons, markers, and glue sticks)
  • Non-perishable food items (beans, corn, rice, etc.)
  • Bottled water
  • Clothing for school- aged children

Items can be dropped off at the following locations. Look for the Hurricane Relief Drop Off containers at each location. If you are unable to drop off items, you can make a donation at the bottom of the page and we will purchase them for you.
