One in Four Children Live in Poverty

  Donate

A recent article in the Durham Herald Sun Newspaper stated that 25% of the children in North Carolina live in poverty. That is one in four children! This is sad news indeed and many of those kids live in the Triangle!

What is the answer? How can our community help these hurting children? Education!

Education is one of the keys to overcoming poverty. That is why for 16 years, the Durham Rescue Mission has been hosting our Back to School Party and Backpack Give-away. This is our largest event each year and it continues to grow!

Why host this event? Needy children receive a free backpack filled with new school supplies, while those supplies last. The families that attend receive free clothing and shoes, free groceries, and everyone enjoys a hot meal and a fun day!

AND YOU CAN HELP!

This Wednesday, thousands of children will come to the Durham Rescue Mission to receive free backpacks filled with new school supplies.

We need your support so that no child is turned away. Make a difference in a child’s life now. Don’t delay! Help needy students in our community receive the tools they need on August 19 to help them succeed in school!

On behalf of the kids…
