Durham, NC – On November 7, 2013, the Durham Rescue Mission has been awarded the highest rating for sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency by Charity Navigator, the country’s largest largest and most-utilized independent evaluator of charities.

For the second consecutive year, Charity Navigator has awarded the Durham Rescue Mission an “exceptional” ranking of four stars out of a possible four, demonstrating adherence to good governance and fiscal responsibility. Only 18 percent of charities have received at least two consecutive four-star evaluations, indicating that Durham Rescue Mission outperforms most other charities in America.

The Durham Rescue Mission recently received the following announcement from Charity Navigator, America’s premier charity evaluator:

“We are proud to announce Durham Rescue Mission has earned our second consecutive 4-star rating.  Receiving four out of a possible four stars indicates that your organization adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way.  Only 18% of the charities we rate have received at least 2 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Durham Rescue Mission outperforms most other charities in America.  This ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Durham Rescue Mission from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”
