The Durham Rescue Mission was founded in 1974 with the single goal in mind:
Mend shattered lives by restoring families and give our community hope.
We’ve been standing true to our mission for years now – feeding, helping, and restoring faith in countless individuals in need in the Durham, Raleigh, and Chapel Hill area.
We are Durham’s oldest and largest long-term homeless shelter, providing food, clothing, training, Biblical counseling, job placement, and much more to broken men, women, and children.
Our doors are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The work that we do and resources we provide to those in need is primarily funded by generous donors who want to see their community grow and volunteers who donate their spare time to help others change their lives.
A donation of $2.49 covers the cost of a meal and care that will help a fellow neighbor in need.

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
2 Corinthians 9:6-8
